Heritage
Creation Time: 2013 Size: 1.14x0.5x0.35 cm Material: gold
I casted a stone, taken out from my body after a surgery, into a gold jewelry which is intended to pass on to my offspring as a hereditary treasure.
The body stone has its heredity as my father has it, I have it, and my children are likely to “inherit” it as well. In addition to the succession of wealth, material, culture and philosophies, there are something innate and superconscious that deeply rooted in our blood, passing on from generations to generations. In my comprehension of the hereditary treasure, it exists within our body, our bloods and veins, while exceeds the physical body as a metaphysical concept or conscience. The hereditary treasure, essentially an abstract idea, is presented here in a tactile form that allows viewers’ perception and possession.
