A Gust of Wind

Creation Time: 2023 Size: 700x215x450cm Material: painted Iron pipes

This is a piece of artwork I created during the 2023 Easter Earth Art Exhibition on Long Island, New York. It was created at the residency of Hephzibah Organic Farm, the exhibition venue. Long Island is brushed by winds from the Atlantic Ocean in winter, so I chose wind as the theme and used discarded steel pipes from the dismantled greenhouses on the farm to create this sculpture.

Wind is the flutter of butterfly wings, the collision of cosmic particles; it is invisible movement—it is the form of free will.

Wind is the beginning of the arrow of time, the first cry of material birth; it is unspeakable information—it is existence before existence.

I have translated my conceptualization of abstract ideas into the construction of tangible materials. If wind had a shape, it would be all the possible outcomes created by the wind.
