1 Meter Spiral

This work was a test I made before producing the 1 Kilometer Tower: I coiled a thin 6 mm steel bar into a spiral, finishing the work when the spiral disc reached one meter in diameter. The bar's total length hardly matters in this work; instead, the 6 mm diameter becomes the smallest unit of the disc's diameter \u2014 some 166 coils of bodily labor forming the growth rings of the work's becoming. And the spiral's forever-unclosable loop corresponds exactly to 1000/6 = 166.666666\u2026 \u2014 that never-ending division: the sliver of never-alignable rift between sculpture as matter and algorithm as concept.
